If we look at the years where there are a high number of magnitude 7 earthquakes and compare them to solar maximum and solar minimum events we can see a clear correlation between the two.

There is a very strong tendency for large earthquakes to occur in large numbers during the solar minimum.  For example, there were 5 magnitude 7 earthquakes in 1812, which was a solar minimum.  The next time there was a large number of magnitude 7 earthquakes was in 1843.  This correlation repeats itself in 1855, 1867-68, 1875, 1888,
